KEYES DENIES SECRET SUPPORT OF OBAMA


In an impromptu meeting with reporters in Des Moines today, Alan Keyes denied that his operatives had been surreptitiously providing support to the Obama campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Mr. Keyes was approached by reporters right after his inexplicable appearance at the Republican debate. They asked about rumors of his secret support of Obama. He denied vehemently the existence of such support. However, Mr. Keyes went on to say that he did enter and compete vigorously the in the race for the Republican nomination in the hope for a rematch against Barack Obama.

In 2004, Alan Keyes was recruited to run in Illinois for U.S. Senator against Mr. Obama . Mr. Keyes told these reporters that he could have defeated Obama except for the late entrance into the race and the burden of commuting from his residence in Maryland.
