May 11,2005. In his column today, Andy Borowitz broke the news that Angelina Jolie plans to do all she can to break up the impending marriage of Elton John and his longtime boy friend, David Furnish.
Offsetting this distressing news was the announcement from Buckingham Palace confirming that Queen Elizabeth would indeed attend the wedding. Her spokesman noted that her attendance was not only a matter of friendship with Sir Elton but also in recognition and appreciation of the support and the music he has provided the royal family over the years.
Several London newspaper reports contained comments to the effect that this event, scheduled for Christmas season, would be the first time since the funeral of Pope John Paul II that the world would witness the presence of three queens at one service.
